Homefinder

Ashfield and Mansfield District Councils, together with local Housing Associations are changing the way in which properties are let in order to provide you with greater choice in where you live.

What is Homefinder?

Under choice based lettings all council and housing association vacancies will be advertised to applicants on the housing register.  Applicants will have the opportunity to respond or bid for properties that are of interest to them.

Each week properties will be advertised in the following ways

  • Website
  • Property Shops
  • Other local collection points

Applicants who are unable to collect a copy of the adverts because of a disability will be given extra help to search and bid for properties.

How the Scheme will work?

The Lettings Policy sets out how the choice based lettings scheme will work. It includes who is eligible to join the housing register, how we assess and prioritise the applications we receive and how applicants can search and bid for properties.

When will Choice Base Lettings be introduced?

Homefinder launches on 4 January 2012.  If you are on the housing waiting list with Ashfield Homes or Moveahead you will need to complete a new social housing application - your current housing application will not be automatically transferred to Homefinder.

You need to complete an application as soon as possible so that we have enough time to assess your application before the Homefinder scheme launches.

If you do not complete a new application by 16 December 2011, we will assume that you are no longer looking for social housing and you will be taken off the housing waiting list.

You only need to complete one social housing application to be able to bid for properties in the Ashfield and Mansfield districts.

From 4th November 2011 you can complete your application online at www.amhomefinder.co.uk

If you don’t have access to the internet, you can request a paper copy of the application by calling 01623 608 999 (Ashfield Homes) or 01623 463 402 (Moveahead).

Instead of being awarded a number of points, your housing circumstances will be assessed and you will be placed in one of five housing need bands. These bands are explained in the Lettings Policy, this can be downloaded above.
