Delivering Excellent Housing Services
Home Home / Improving homes / Our major works programme
Our major works programme

 houses

Refurbishment work involves the large scale replacement of whole 'building elements' to your home. Examples include windows, roof coverings, central heating, electrical re-wiring, kitchens, bathrooms, external doors and insulated rendering. Large scale programmes of work are carried out year on year, the aim being to maintain all homes to the Government's Decent Homes Standard. We also carry out other improvement works as the need arises.

Ongoing surveys and historical information allow us to plan and prioritise which homes are to be included in forthcoming programmes of work.

Over time therefore, all homes will benefit from the replacement of all building elements based on their lifecycle and condition. This means that if we haven’t visited you already, then we will be doing so in the future. Even if we have already visited you, we will be back again to replace other building elements as and when they are required.

Ashfield District Council appointed Frank Haslam Milan in January 2010 as its Construction Partner to carry out the majority of planned improvement works for the period 2010 to 2015.

Works currently being carried out across the district include:-

- Kitchen replacement

- Bathroom replacement

- Central Heating replacement

- Electrical remedial works

- Window replacement

- External Door replacement

- External Insulated Rendering repairs/replacement

When we are due to carry out kitchen and/or bathroom replacements, we will also assess the condition of the central heating system and electrical installation, and carry out the replacement of these (where necessary) at the same time as the kitchen and/or bathroom.

We will provide details of the main programmes of work planned for the new financial year (April 2012 to March 2013) on this website shortly.

In the meantime, if you want to know if we are planning to include your home in any forthcoming programme of works, please contact Misty McGrath, Tenant Liaison Officer, on:
