Illegal occupation

Empty

Sometimes people move into a property but they should not be living there.  They may see an empty property and move in.  This is called illegal occupation or squatting.

It is also possible that the tenant has moved out and is sub-letting the property to someone else.  This is a property that we could re-let to someone who is waiting for a home.

We will investigate any instances of illegal occupation and commence the necessary legal action to remove any illegal occupiers from our properties.

You can help by reporting any instances to the Tenancy Services Team or by telephoning FREEPHONE 0800 9520193

You can speak to someone in confidence during office hours or leave a message out of office hours.

You can also complete the on-line form below.  You do not have to leave your name or contact details, though if you do we may have other questions about the situation that you can help us with.  In any case, your details and contact with us will be confidential.
