Introduction
Ashfield Homes is leading the way on protecting the environment in Ashfield.
We are registered to the International Standard ISO14001. What this means is that Ashfield Homes has identified the risks it poses to the environment and is taking steps to minimise those risks. The company is assessed annually by the British Standards Institution, an independent assessor for the Standard.
For example we use recycled paper wherever possible, we set targets for reduction in electricity, which in turn reduces CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. We also recylce waste products. One initiative we have is to produce wildlife boxes for birds, bats and hedgehogs from the off cuts of wood from our joiners shop. We have distributed these to local schools and are presently working with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
Environmental Aspects
The Environmental Standard requires us to identify our Environmental Aspects. These are the areas where we can take action to improve our effect on the environment.
